Seattle's Greenlake Motel

The recent shut-down notices received by residents of Seattle’s Greenlake Motel have raised many questions of when someone living in a motel is considered a tenant or not. Generally, residence in a hotel or motel is exempted from state Residential Landlord-Tenant Act coverage. There may be some situations, however, in which tenants living in hotels or motels are covered by state or local landlord-tenant laws.
